Built in 1902 for the tourist trade it is the only cable tramway running in Britain.It runs in part on and alongside a public road with a gradient of 1.in3.8 to 1 in 10. The ride is about 1 mile in length to the summit with a winding station halfway where the passengers change trams to finish the journey,two trams in the top section and two in the bottom.
A ride on this tram will take you 679ft to the summit of The Great Orme where the panoramic views are a sight not to be missed.You can see Snowdonia,Anglesey and on a clear day The Isle of Man,The Lake District and Blackpool Tower.
