William the second Lord Bagot erected this monument as a memorial of his having completed the large range of mountain plantations which skirt the base of this hill in 1830.This hill top "Pincyn y Llys" [Wimberry Hill] is part of Clocaenog Forest and overlooks the Vale of Clwyd and the Clwydian Mountains.
